Fall Colors and The Great Smoky Mountain Railroad

Come to The Great Smoky Mountains and experience the autumn leaf season as the fall colors travel down the sides of the mountains over the course of several weeks. While it is impossible to provide the exact dates of the "peak" season, the attached image will provide you with a general idea of what those peak times will be. One of the reasons why the Smoky Mountains have such a beautiful autumn leaf season is the 100 species of native trees, which will change at different times and provide a multitude of colors.

One of the many ways to enjoy the fall season in the Smoky Mountains is to take a trip on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad (GSMR.com). GSMR will wind you through areas that feel untouched and offer a natural beauty that is rarely seen. Additionally, there are several packages available so guests can decide what kind of trip they would like. One of the packages that change year to year is the "Adult Package", which will usually offer adult beverages and meals. One of the major benefits of the Adult Package is guests will be in the All-Adult First Class Car, which everyone can appreciate from time to time. In previous years, I have seen GSMR offer wine pairings and charcuterie boards with meals that focused on pairing a protein with fall favorite vegetables and pies.

This year GSMR is focusing on the history of moonshining in North Carolina and will be offering Moonshine infused cocktails that are authentically crafted and infused with real fruit. Guests will have the choice of either classic Pulled Pork BBQ or Shrimp and Grits. If you have never experienced a ride on the GSMR and are looking to try something new, this could be a great trip for couples.
